"아이가 속삭였다, '하느님, 저에게 말해주세요' 그리고 초원의 종달새는 노래를 불렀다. 아이는 듣지 못하였다. 그래서 아이가 소리를 질렀다, '하느님, 저에게 말해주세요' 그러자 하늘을 가로질러 천둥이 쳤다. 그러나 아이는 듣지 않았다. 아이가 주위를 둘러보고는 말했다, '하느님, 제가 당신을 볼 수 있게 해주세요' 그리고 별은 밝게 빛났다. 그러나 아이는 알아보지 못하였다. 그리고 아이는 소리쳤다, '하느님, 저에게 기적을 보여주세요!' 그러자 한 생명이 태어났으나 아이는 알지 못하였다. 그래서 아이는 절망에 빠져 소리질렀다, '하느님 저를 만져주세요, 그렇게 해서 당신이 여기 계시다는 것을 제가 알게 해주세요!' 그래서 하느님은 손을 아래로 뻗어 아이를 만졌다. 그러나, 아이는 그 나비를 쫓아버리고는 아무것도 모른채 떠났다." --- 작가 미상 ************** "The child whispered, 'God, speak to me' And a meadow lark sang.
