THE RITE OF PENANCE

-The rite for Reconciliation of Individual Penitents

1. RECEPTION OF THE PENITENT(성호경)

  In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

2. READING OF THE WORD OF GOD(하느님의 말씀을 들음)

3. CONFESSION OF SINS AND ACCEPTANCE OF SATISFACTION(지난 성사일과 죄고백)

  (tell how long since you last Confession and confess your sins and listen to the priest's advice)

4. PRAYER OF THE PENITENT(통회기도-보통 고백소 밖에서 한다.)

(⊙ My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In his name, my God, have mercy)

5. ABSOLUTION(사죄경)

† God, the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son has reconciled the world to himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins; through the ministry of the Church may God give you pardon and peace, and I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, † and of the Holy Spirit.

6. PROCLAMATION OF PRAISE OF GOD AND DISMISSAL

† Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.

⊙ His mercy endures for ever.
