HOW TO RECITE THE ROSARY
THE ROSARY
The rosary is a series of prayers in honour of our Lord and the blessed Virgin Mary. The whole rosary is composed of fifteen decades. A decade consists of: 'The Lord's Prayer', ten 'Hail Mary's and 'the Glory be to the Father'. The rosary consists of five decades of beads, as it is a common practice to recite five decades at a time, while meditating on either the five 'joyful', 'sorrowful' or 'glorious' mysteries in the life of our Lord and the blessed Virgin Mary. It is customary to commence the rosary by saying 'The Apostles' Creed', 'The Lord's Prayer', three 'Hail Mary's and 'the glory be to the Father'. The 'Hail, Holy Queen' is usually said after the five decades are completed.

2 THE VISITATION And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She gave a loud cry and said: 'Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.' (Luke 1,41-42)
3 THE BIRTH OF JESUS And she gave birth to a son, her first-born. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them at the inn. (Lk 2,7)_
4 THE PRESENTATION And when the day came for them to be purified as laid down by the Law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. (Lk 2,22-23)
5 THE FINDING OF JESUS IN THE TEMPLE Three days later, they found him in the Temple, sitting among the doctors listening to them, and asking them questions (Lk 2,46)
THE FIVE SORROWFUL MYSTERIES(고통의 신비) (Tuesday and Friday)
1 THE AGONY IN THE GARDEN In his anguish he prayed even more earnestly, and his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood. When he rose from prayer he went to the disciples and found them sleeping for sheer grief. (Lk 22,44-45)
2 THE SCOURGING AT THE PILLAR Pilate then had Jesus taken away and scourged. (Jn 19,1)
3 THE CROWNING WITH THORNS Then they stripped him and made him wear a scarlet cloak, and having twisted some thorns into a crown they put this on his head and placed a reed in his right hand. (Mt 27,28.-29)
4 THE CARRYING OF THE CROSS And carrying his own cross he went out of the city to the place of the skull or, as it was called in Hebrew, Golgotha. (Jn 19,17)
5 THE CRUCIFIXION And when Jesus had cried out in a loud voice, he said, 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit'. With these words he breathed his last. (Lk 23,46)
THE FIVE GLORIOUS MYSTERIES(영광의 신비) (Wednesday and Saturday and Sunday)
1 THE RESURRECTION You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: he has risen, he is not here. SEE here is the place where they laid him. (Mark 16,6)
2. THE ASCENSION And so the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven: there at the right hand of God he took his place. (Mark 16,19)
3 THE DESCENT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak foreign languages as the Spirit gave them the gift of speech. (Acts 2,2)
4. THE ASSUMPTION OF OUR LADY INTO HEAVEN Now a great sign appeared in heaven; a woman, adorned with the sun, standing on the moon, and with the twelve stars on her head for a crown. (Revelation 12,1)
5 .THE CORONATION OF MARY AS QUEEN OF HEAVEN On her head a crown of twelve stars. (Revelation 12,1)
HAIL, HOLY QUEEN(성모찬송) Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy. Hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To you do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy towards us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
V) Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. R) That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray O God, whose only-begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant we beseech you, that meditating upon these mysteries in the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may both imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
