. [175.115.222.*] 2012-01-24 ㅣ No.1156 게시자 주: 1. The power of the will to determine itself and to act of itself, without compulsion from within or coercion from without. It is the faculty of an intelligent being to act or not act, to act this way or another way, and is therefore essentially different from the operations of irrational beings that merely respond to a stimulus and are conditioned by sensory objects.
자유 의지(free will)

The philosophical study of the first principles of human thought and their value as knowledge. It is also called epistemology and treats of the criteria or norms for determining the truth. These norms are both objective and subjective. Objective criteria are intrinsic evidence, where available, on divine or human authority, where truth is otherwise unavailable. Subjective criteria are the human faculties of knowledge, which faith tells the believer must be assisted by divine grace for the acceptance of revelation on God's authority.
주관적 기준(subjective criteria)들은 지식(knowledge)에 대한 인간적 능력(human faculties)들을 말하는데, 이것들은 [향주삼덕들 중의 첫 번째인] 믿음/신덕(faith)이 믿는 이(the believers)들에게 '하느님의 권위에 대한 계시(revelation on)의 받아들임(acceptance)을 위하여 신성적 은총(divine grace)에 의한 도움을 받아야(must be assisted) 한다'고 말하는 바로 그것들입니다. (3)-4.
In general, the mind in its function of attaining the truth. Also the basis or evidence used by the mind in its pursuit of truth. It differs from the intellect, whose proper role is to perceive the truth, whether arrived at by a reasoning process or perceived immediately as intuition. Reason, therefore, is a process, where intellect is possession.
A human act. One performed with knowledge and free will. It is called a moral act because it is always either morally good or bad. Every consciously deliberate action is therefore a moral act.
윤리적 행위(moral act)
인간의 행위(a human act)를 말합니다.(#1) 지식(knowledge) 및 자유 의지(free will)와 함께 수행(performed)되는 한 인간의 행동(action of a human being)를 말합니다.(#1) 이 행동은 윤리적 행위라고 불리는데 왜냐하면 그것이 항상 윤리적으로(morally) 선(good)하거나 혹은 나쁘기[bad, 악하기(evil)] 때문입니다.(#2) 그러므로 의식적으로(consciously) 숙고하는, 즉, 행함(acting)을 위한 그 동기들에 대한 반성(反省, reflection) 후에 혹은 질문과 권고 후에 행해지는(deliberate),(#3) 행동(action) 각각은 한 개의 윤리적 행위입니다.
Every action and the only one that proceeds from the deliberate will of a human being. Consequently it proceeds from the knowledge of the intellect and the free decision of the human will. It is an act of which a human being is the master, whether the act begins and ends in the will, i.e., elicited act (such as love), or the will affects another faculty, i.e., commanded act (such as writing). Only human acts are morally imputable to the one who performs them, unlike what are called acts of a human being(*) performed by persons who lack the use of reason or whose freedom is totally inhibited as in sleep or under anesthesia.
한 인간(a human being)의 숙고하는(#3) 의지[즉, 행함(acting)을 위한 그 동기(動機, the motives)들에 대한 반성(反省, reflection) 후에 혹은 질문(inquiry)과 권고(advice) 후에 행해진 의지](deliberate will)로부터 나오는/발출하는(proceeds) 모든 행동 그리고 오로지 그러한 행동만(every action and the only one that)(#4)을 말합니다.
Human acts are either good or bad, depending on whether they agree or disagree with the norms of morality. Morally indifferent human acts are purely theoretical. In practice all deliberate actions are somehow either morally good or bad.
Similarly the distinction between natural and supernatural actions is more speculative than real, since whatever a person does deliberately has moral significance for his or her supernatural destiny.
For juridical reasons, which may partake of divine law, human acts may be either valid or invalid, according as they fulfill the conditions required by Church law. Thus baptism administered with some liquid other than water is not valid.

출처: http://www.therealpresence.org/dictionary/m/m042.htm (발췌 시작) MAN
Latin homo, a human being, as distinct from vir, a male person. The term homo has no perfect English equivalent, but it is part of the Church's official vocabulary and occurs in every major document of the Catholic Church. A living substance, composed of a material body that dies and a spiritual soul that is immortal. Creature made by God to his image and likeness, to praise, reverence, and serve him in this life and thereby attain the eternal possession of God in the life to come. In philosophical terms, "man" is a rational animal, and collectively is the human species or the human race. (Etym. Anglo-Saxon man, a person.)
사람(man)
철학 용어들에서, "사람"(man)은 한 명의 이성적 동물(a rational animal)이고, 그리고 총체적으로(collectively) 인간 종(the human species) 혹은 인류(the human race)를 말합니다. Anglo-Saxon man, a person.]
In Thomas Aquinas, the imago Dei possesses an historical character, since it passes through three stages: the imago creationis (naturae), the imago recreationis (gratiae), and the similitudinis (gloriae) (S.Th. I q.93 a.4). For Aquinas, the imago Dei is the basis for participation in the divine life. The image of God is realized principally in an act of contemplation in the intellect (S.Th. I q.93 a.4 and 7). This conception can be distinguished from that of Bonaventure, for whom the image is realized chiefly through the will in the religious act of man (Sent. II d.16 a.2 q.3). Within a similar mystical vision, but with a greater boldness, Meister Eckhart tends to spiritualize the imago Dei by placing it at the summit of the soul and detaching it from the body (Quint. I,5,5-7;V, 6.9s).

ESSENCE
What a thing is. The internal principle whereby a thing is what it is and not something else. Sometimes essence is said to be the same thing as being, but being merely, affirming that a thing is, without specifying its perfections. Essence is not quite the same as nature, which adds to essence the notion of activity, i.e., nature is the essence in action. Or again essence is substance, but not all essences are substantial because accidents also have an essence. (Etym. Latin essentia, essence, being.)

NATURE
The essence of a being considered as the principle of activity. Also the substance of a thing as distinguished from its properties, considered as the source of its operations. Nature is also definable in contrast to its opposites from a variety of viewpoints. In contrast with God, it is the created universe. In contrast with human activity, it is the world considered prior to or independent of the changes produced by human free will. In contrast to the life and operations of divine grace, it is that to which a human person has claim, as creature, as distinct from a share in God’s own life, which is the supernatural. (Etym. Latin natura, the inner principle of a thing’s operations and activity; from nasci, to be born.)

게시자 주 2-8-1: 달리 말하여, "전건적 예증"은 다음을 말한다: 즉, 한 개의 명제(a proposition) "p implies q"가 이미 증명되었다고(has been proved) 할 때에, "시공간 안에서, 사변 원리인 p로부터, 당사자들의 자유 의지들의 행사와 무관하게 및 필연적으로(non-contingently), 결과(effect)인 q에 도달함"을 말한다.

Legitimate reasoning from premises that are better known than the conclusion. Yet the premises are effects posterior (or subsequent) in being or in time to the cause in the conclusion, e.g., demonstrations of the existence of God.
(DEMONSTRATION, A POSTERIORI)
게시자 주 2-8-2: 달리 말하여, "후건적 예증"은 다음을 말한다: 즉, 한 개의 명제(a proposition) "p implies q"가 이미 증명되었다고(has been proved) 할 때에, "시공간 안에서, 실천 원리인 q로부터, 개입된 당사자들의 자유 의지(free wills)들의 행사 혹은 비필연적인(contingent) 조건(conditions)들에 따라서, 결과(effect)인 p에 도달할 수도(may/might) 있음"을 말한다.

Originally meant the appearance or visible form of a thing existing apart from the thing itself. Consequently, the likeness within the mind of some reality that exists outside the mind. An idea is clear when it is distinct from other ideas; it is complete when it adequately represents the nature of what is mentally conceived; it is primitive when acquired directly from the object known; and derived when arrived at from other ideas by comparison and contrast. (Etym. Greek idein, to see.)
