위의 글에서 올려 드린대로 이지역 국회의원 마이크의 싸이트를 방문, 그의 활동을 알아 보던 중,

이 젊은 국회의원이 이락등 중동을 넘나들며 방문하면서 이락의 한 작은 도시 탈라파라는 곳에서

그 시장을 만나게 된 모양입니다. 이 도시는  돈으로 흥정하며 납치한 외국인의 목베기로 유명한

자카위의 본거지 (Abu Mousab Al Zarqaw)였답니다.

 

그 시장님은 그에게 "미국 군인들에게 드리는 감사의 편지"를 전한 것이지요,

아래 생생한 현지의 증언.... 전문을 전재합니다.

 

내용은 온갖 같은 민족끼리 상쟁하며 완전 죽음의 유령도시화 되어 있던 그의 마을을 미군들이 들어 와 압제자를 제거하고 폭력을 사용하는 온갖 나뿐 넘들을 용맹하게 평정 해 주어 살 만한 도시가 되었음을 감사한다는 그런 내용이지요.

퍼오신 이현철 소장님의 펌 글과 비교,  한번 심중히...

 

정말 무었이 이락에서 일어나고 있는지, 

미국 젊은이들은 왜 그렇게 피를 흘리며 2,500명씩이나 희생되어야 하는지,

그들의 가족들은 어떻게 생각하는지...

미국 국민들은 어떻게 생각하고 있는지...

미국의 젊은 이들이 군인이란 멍에를 쓰고 꼭두각시처럼 부시의 말을 듣고 양민들을 학살하고 다니는지...

생각하고 싶습니다.

 

정말 무슨 일이 일어나고 있는 것인지요?

 

이소장님이 퍼주신 바티칸 외신 글 번호 104537의 일부를 돌아 봅니다:

 

"교황은 또한 미국이 교황의 권고를 듣지 않고 명분없는 이라크침공을 단행하여

현재와 같은 불행한 사태를 초래한데 대해 힐책하시고,

특히 최근의 이라크 포로들에 대한 미군들의 학대 행위들을 개탄하셨습니다".

 

교황님께서는 교황님의 입장으로... 유혈 사태의 전쟁 행위를 규탄 하시는 듯 한데

한국의 외신기자가 번역을 했는지 우리 교우가 번역한 것인지 정확히 모르겠지만

한글을 엉망으로 써 놓은 표현... 좀 그렇지요?

 

원문을 보고 한 것은 아니지만 한글을 이렇게 번역해보면ㅎㅎㅎ 어떨까요?

 

교황님께서는 부시대통령에게 말씀 하셨습니다.

"천주교의 평화를 지향하는 뜻에 부합되지 않는 미국의 이락크 침공에 대해

유감을 표현하시고 현재와 같이 총과 유혈 사태가 빨리 끝나게 되기를 바라며,

또한 이락크의 포로등에 대해서도 인도주의적인 대우를 하라"고 촉구 하셨습니?

 

확실히 같은 뜻이면서도 아다르고 어 다릅니다.

 

제가 일부 한국의 기자들이나 이럴게 표현하며 번역한 사람들을 나쁜 넘들이라고 비난하는 이유...

그리고 함부로 그대로 퍼오지 말자고 하는 데 일리가 있다고 생각합니다.

교황님 말씀을 번역한다고 (존칭의 님 자도 없군요ㅠㅠㅠ) 다 좋은 번역은 아니겠지요?

 

그리고 이런 국가의 뜻을 받들고 임무를 용맹하게 수행하다가 희생된 미군의 엄숙한 장례식에서

그들의 숭고한 희생을 오손하며 데모를 하는 행㎏?위법으로 하자는 상하 양원의 입법 조치에

(분명 마이크도 그 법의 기안 위원중에 하나입니다. 그의 웹싸이트에 올린 것을 보면) 

상하 양원을 거친 그 법을 최종 싸인 하는 부시 대통령의 사진도 곁들여 봅니다.

 

전사한 미군의 가족들을 초대하여 함께 찍었군요.

 

그들을 기리는 이라크 현지 시장의 편지...

그리고 숨진 영웅 (Fallen Heroes) 들을 기리는 국민들의 마음...

미국현지의 느낌도 이 게시판에 전해 졌으면 합니다.

 

 

 

 

이사진만 보면 마치 부시가 지가 법을 만들어서 지가 싸인하고 있는 것처럼

보일 수도 있겠지요? 한국의 신문 기사들을 보면 온통 그런 식입니다.

In the Name of God the Compassionate and Merciful....

To the Courageous Men and Women of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment,

who have changed the city of Tall’ Afar from a ghost town, in which terrorists spread death and destruction, to a secure city flourishing with life.

To the lion-hearts who liberated our city from the grasp of terrorists who were beheading men,
women and children in the streets for many months.

To those who spread smiles on the faces of our children, and gave us restored hope,

through their personal sacrifice and brave fighting, and gave new life to the city after hopelessness darkened our days, and stole our confidence in our ability to reestablish our city.

Our city was the main base of operations for Abu Mousab Al Zarqawi. The city was completely held
hostage in the hands of his henchmen. Our schools, governmental services, businesses and offices
were closed. Our streets were silent, and no one dared to walk them. Our people were barricaded in
their homes out of fear; death awaited them around every corner. Terrorists occupied and controlled
the only hospital in the city. Their savagery reached such a level that they stuffed the corpses of
children with explosives and tossed them into the streets in order to kill grieving parents attempting to
retrieve the bodies of their young. This was the situation of our city until God prepared and delivered
unto them the courageous soldiers of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, who liberated this city,
ridding it of Zarqawi’s followers after harsh fighting, killing many terrorists, and forcing the
remaining butchers to flee the city like rats to the surrounding areas, where the bravery of other 3d
ACR soldiers in Sinjar, Rabiah, Zumar and Avgani finally destroyed them.

 

I have met many soldiers of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment; they are not only courageous men and
women, but avenging angels sent by The God Himself to fight the evil of terrorism.
The leaders of this Regiment; COL McMaster, COL Armstrong, LTC Hickey, LTC Gibson, and LTC
Reilly embody courage, strength, vision and wisdom. Officers and soldiers alike bristle with the
confidence and character of knights in a bygone era. The mission they have accomplished, by means
of a unique military operation, stands among the finest military feats to date in Operation Iraqi
Freedom, and truly deserves to be studied in military science. This military operation was clean, with
little collateral damage, despite the ferocity of the enemy. With the skill and precision of surgeons
they dealt with the terrorist cancers in the city without causing unnecessary damage.

God bless this brave Regiment; God bless the families who dedicated these brave men and women.
From the bottom of our hearts we thank the families. They have given us something we will never
forget. To the families of those who have given their holy blood for our land, we all bow to you in
reverence and to the souls of your loved ones. Their sacrifice was not in vain. They are not dead, but
alive, and their souls hovering around us every second of every minute. They will never be forgotten
for giving their precious lives. They have sacrificed that which is most valuable. We see them in the
smile of every child, and in every flower growing in this land. Let America, their families, and the
world be proud of their sacrifice for humanity and life.

Finally, no matter how much I write or speak about this brave Regiment, I haven’t the words to
describe the courage of its officers and soldiers. I pray to God to grant happiness and health to these
legendary heroes and their brave families.
