<참된 자유인으로 자라난다는 것>
Growing Into Our True Freedom
참된 자유란 하느님 자녀들의 자유입니다. 이 세상에는 자유를 거스르는 게 온통 널려있기에 그자유를 얻으려면 평생에 걸친 수련을 해야 합니다. 우리 주위를 에워싸고 있는 정치, 경제, 사회, 심지어 종교의 세력들이 바라는 건 우리에게 굴레를 씌워 시키는대로 잘 따르고 던져 주는 대가에 꼼짝없이 목매고 살게 하는 겁니다.
하지만 우리를 자유로 이끄는 영성의 진리는 우리가 이 세상 것이 아니라 하느님의 것이며 우리는 그분께서 사랑하시는 아들딸이라는 진리입니다. 살아가면서 말과 행동으로 끊임없이 그 진리를 향해 돌아간다면 우리는 시나브로 참된 자유인으로 자라날 겁니다.
주님은 영이십니다. 그리고 주님의 영이 계신 곳에는 자유가 있습니다.(2코린3,17)
Growing Into Our True Freedom
APRIL 17
True freedom is the freedom of the children of God. To reach that freedom requires a lifelong discipline since so much in our world militates against it. The political, economic, social, and even religious powers surrounding us all want to keep us in bondage so that we will obey their commands and be dependent on their rewards.
But the spiritual truth that leads to freedom is the truth that we belong not to the world but to God, whose beloved children we are. By living lives in which we keep returning to that truth in word and deed, we will gradually grow into our true freedom."Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." - 2 Corinthians 3: 17 (NRSV)
