박정일 미카엘 주교님 성하!

주교님께서는 예언자 엘리야로 생각됩니다.  

2017년 2월부터 알게된 오완수 바오로 Soul travel 마르코 성지순례 대표의 주선으로 주교님을 조금 더 알게되고 부터 제가 주교님께 글과 신문기사를 13~14회 보내드리고, 5~6회 통화도 드렸습니다.

주교님께서도 답신과 멋진 사진들을 6~7회 보내주신 것으로 기억되며, 제게는 참으로 귀한 인연과 만남으로 이어갔습니다.

그 후 드디어 부활 제4주일이자 성소주일인 5월12일에 경남 부곡의 로얄호텔에서 하룻 밤을 지내고, 다음 날인 5월13일 오전 10시 정각에 주교님을 찾아뵙고 귀한 말씀 나누었습니다.  

주교님께서 직접 제작하신 여러가지 상본과 계절에 맞는 카드와 쓰신 글, 주교님의 로마 바티칸 에서의 사제서품 기념 상본(1958년 11월23일) 등 제게 주신 모든 것이, 우리 한국 가톨릭적으로도 매우 중요하고 역사적이고, 휘귀한 자료들입니다.  

특히 주교님 유학시절의 이탈리아 로마 우르바노(Urbano )신학교 유학10년 (1952.8~1962.6)간의 생활체험기와 로마 바티칸에서 현재의 프란치스코 교황님을 알현하시는 사진 등을 선물 받고서 , 평신도의 한 사람으로서 얼마나 기쁘고 감사하고 행복했는지 말로 다 표현 못하였습니다.

이제 이러한 자료들을 특별히 잘 보관하면서 앞으로 제가 여러 글을 쓸 기회에 널리널리 알리겠습니다.  

이에 한 가지 더 밝히고 싶은 것은, 위 책을 번역 출판할 경우에 고위 성직자의 추천사 1인의 추천사와 함께 평신도 대표의 추천사 1인을 받는다면 제가 꼭 만나서 자문도 받고 싶은 한홍순 토마스 전 외국어대학교 교수, 대학원장/한국천주교 평신도 사도직 협의회장/ 로마 교황청 한국 대사를, 주교님께서 이미 여러번 만나셔서 잘 알고 계셨습니다. 주교님께서 그 소식을 말씀해주시니 얼마나 반가운지요? 예수님께서 저같이 보잘 것 없는 사람을 통해서도,  주교님과 한홍순대사를 연결시켜 [예수님의 내면생활] 도서의 번역 발간을 위해, 오래전부터 섭리히고  계신다는  마음을 강하게 받았습니다.

감사하게도 제가, 한국 천주교 서울대교구내에서 최초(?)로 서울 청담동의   까리따스 수녀원에서 개설한 빈센트 노인대학 자문위원(?)의 한 사람이 되어 한홍순 교수와 함께 커리큘럼 작성과 강사 초빙을 위한 자문위원 역할을 같이 하였습니다.그 후 38년이나 되는 지금까지 살아온 분야가 한대사님과 제가 서로 전연 달라서 한대사님을 뵐 기회가 없어 참으로 안타까왔습니다만, 빈센트 노인대학 개설 당시에 김수환 추기경님께서 이  까리따스  수녀원의  빈센트 노인대학을 사목 방문하셔서 축복을 주시기도 했습니다.

 제가 대학생 때이던 51년전인 1968년에,1991년에  UN에서 제정한 세계노인의 날 보다 이미 23년을  앞서 만든 저의  한국의 노인의 날이 ,국가에서는1997년에 제정되어서, 올해는 벌써 제 23회 노인의 날이라 노인의 날 만든 이가 되어 있지만, 노인분들을 위한 노인의 날이 국가에서 제정되기 전인 1981년에,  노인의 날을 제정하기 위해  老人의 날 制定 主唱者로서  서명을 받던 1981년에는  만34세인 바, 만38세인 한국외대 한홍순교수의 서명도 받은 아래의 서명지(1981.6.1) 원본(原本)을, 주교님께 보여드리자  참 장한 일 하였다고 칭찬해 주셨습니다.  

어느덧 물 흐르듯 흐르는 세월따라 강산 4번 변하는 38년의 세월이 흐름에 따라 그 때 34세이던 저는 72세, 38세이던 한홍순 교수는 76세가 되었습니다. 저와 같이 30대이던 한교수님도 70대의 노년이 되었습니다. 찾아 뵈면 30대에 만난 후 서로 반백발의 노년세대가 되어서 만났다고 반가이 맞아 주실 것 같습니다. 

주교님을 처음 뵈었는데도, 72세  저의 부부를 사제관 주교님 좌석 좌우에 앉게 해주신 배려뿐만 아니라, 바로 주교님 의자 좌우에 걸터앉게까지 사랑해 주시고, 기념촬영을 해주셔서 얼마나 영광이었는지 모릅니다.  

 2000년전 예수님의 사랑과 자비가 2000년이 지난 오늘은 주교님에 의해 불초 저의 부부에게도 체험되고 임재하고 계심을 깨달았습니다.

주교님께서 은퇴하신 후에 생활하시는 주소가, 그냥 창녕의 나자렛 예수 수녀회 사제관으로만 알고 찾아뵙는데, 찾아뵙고서 이 소중한 나자렛 예수 수녀원의 창설자가 바로 한국가톨릭의 선구자요 만 93세의 주교님이심을 알고는 더욱 감동했고,  

예수님께서 고위 성직자로까지 소명주시고 제주교구장ㆍ마산교구장ㆍ전주교구장 등 3개 교구의 교구장과 한국천주교 주교회의 의장을 역임하신 주교님이시자 수녀원 창립이라는 크신 일을 하신 전설적인 주교님이심에, 저절로 큰 절을 올리게 되었습니다. 

이러한 주교님께서 저의 내외를 꼭 안아 주심에 부모님과 같은 포근함과 자비를 배웠습니다.

90세가 훨씬 넘으신 고령이심에도    

오완수 바오로 Soul travel  마르코 성지순례 대표와 함께 일본 등  외국  성지순례에 함께 하시어 미사 집전ㆍ강론 하시고,      

국내에서는 나자렛 예수 수녀원의 수녀님들과 수녀원 요양원에 계신 할머니들을 위한 주일과 매일 아침 오전7시 미사를 직접 집전ㆍ강론하심을 알았습니다.

나자렛 예수 수녀원의 현황과 수녀원 성당 내부를 일일이 소개해 주셔서, 

70세를 넘긴 저의 내외도 심히 우려되고 걱정되는 우리나라 자유 민주주의 대한민국의 진정한 평화와 부부의 건강, 오랫동안 뵙고 싶던 주교님을 찾아 뵈온 목적을 위해 감사로이 기도할 시간도 가졌습니다.     

주교님께서는 엘리야 예언자이십니다. 

가톨릭 언론인 신앙학교 오완수 바오로 형제의 알림으로 나자렛 예수 수녀원 사제관으로 주교님을 찾아뵌 결과,  주교님께서는 이시대의 예언자 ㆍ선구자ㆍ개척자인 엘리야이시고, 한없이 미소한 저 임마누엘 내외는 아주 미미한 부부요, 사렙타의 과부만도 못함을 알았습니다. 

M.C Baij 수녀의 [VITA INTERNA DI GESU CRISTO] 를 한국어와 영어로 번역ㆍ출판하여 이탈리아어와 독일어를 모르는 이 지구상의 모든 인류에게 900페이지가 넘는 방대한 이 책을 번역ㆍ 출판하게 함에는 엘리야이신 주교님의 기도와 기억과 지도편달이 절대로 필요하심을 예수님께서,  영성체후 기도 중에 여러번 알려주시면서  

 " 나의 아들중의 아들로 선택한 박정일 미카엘 주교를 찾아 뵙고, [나의 영성생활]을 딸 중의 딸로 선택한 M.C 바이즈 수녀가 내가 주는 계시와 영감을 직접 받아 저술한 [나의 내면생활]을 번역 출판하려는 너의 꾸밈없는 마음을 말씀드리고 지혜를 구하거라. " 하시어, 

감히 용기를 내어 나자렛 예수 수녀원으로 주교님을 찾아뵈었던 것입니다. 사실 이 [예수님의 내면생활]의 번역 출판은 비단 예수님을 믿는 가톨릭 신자 수도자 성직자들뿐만 아니라 개신교 신자, 정교회 신자, 유대교 신자, 이슬람교 신자, 힌두교와 불교 신자, 나아가서는 이 지구상의 모든 인류, 즉 종교가 없는 비신자, 무신론자들에게도 예수님을 널리 알리고, 전도하는 귀한 전도서, 매체의 역할을 담당하게 될 것입니다. 그러한 의미에서, 역량있는 출판위원(출판사)과 번역위원(번역진)이 선정되고,  로마 교황청과 성베드로 수녀원에도 [예수님의 내면생활]을 번역 발간하려는 저의 이러한  원대한 계획과 포부가 잘 알려지기를 염원합니다. 부족한 저의 내외이자만 예수님을 보다 많이 전교하고 싶어서  2008년 5월부터 천주교 예수 노상 전교회 부부 전교사이기도 합니다.     

의술이 발달하지 않은 60여 년전부터 한국의 어느 시골 마을에서 의사가 없어, 어릴 때부터 폐렴과 만성 기관지 확장증ㆍ 수술해도 낫지 않는 화농성 중이염을 비롯한 이비인후과 전부 수술,  지금까지 셀 수 없을 만큼의 각종 고질병과 난치병ㆍ폐결핵의 발병과 재발ㆍ대장암ㆍ심혈관 질환으로 이틀에 걸친 정말 위험한 색전술 스탠트 삽입 시술 등 그 후유증으로 지금도 고생하고 있는 제가 남은 이생의 죽기전까지 , 주교님께서  선종하시기전까지, 위 책을 번역ㆍ발간하게 함이 예수님께 대한 저의 나머지 일생의 사명으로 실천하고자 하오니, 주교님께서도 동의ㆍ찬동 하신다는 마음으로 꼭 저를 기억해 주십시오.

여호와께서 섭리하신 구약의 엘리야 예언자 같으신 분, 성직자님들 중에서도 일찍 고위 성직자님이신 주교님께 사렙타의 과부만도 못한   미소한 저의 부부가 추대하는 위원장이 무슨 권위나 영예가 조금이라도 되겠습니까만,

오직 [VITA INTERNA DI GESU CRISTO] 를 이 지구상에서, 세계 최초로  한국인(Korean people)인 저희들이 한국어와 영어로 번역ㆍ출판하여 세계 모든 나라에 예수님을 더 전도하고자 하는 신앙심 하나로 초빙하는 것이오니 부디 내치지 마시옵고,

[예수님의 내면생활] 영어ㆍ한글 번역 출판 위원장 초빙에 수락해주시기를

우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 간절히 기도드리며, 앞으로도 계속 기도올리겠습니다. 저의 이 간절하고 끊임없는 소망을 미사중에 기억해 주십시오.사목자이신 주교님께서, 예수님 당신의 내면생활인 [예수님의 내면생활]을 번역ㆍ출간하고자 노력하고 있는 저의 일에 위원장을 허락해주시는 영광 주시면, 제 나머지 인생에 여한이 없을 것이며, 이 책이  번역 출판되기와 주교님의 영육간 강건하심을 기도드리며, 긴 편지를 마치겠습니다. 아멘!

you are thought to be the prophet Elijah. I got to know more about you through Marco pilgrimage representative Paulus Wan-soo Oh’s good offices, who I met in February 2017. After that, I sent you writings and newspaper articles 13 or 14 times and we made a phone call 5 or 6 times.

I remember that you sent me replies and wonderful pictures six or seven times, and it led to a truly precious relationship. On February 26th, I sent you a book titled ‘VITA INTERNA DI GESU CRISTO’ to read. It is the book that Sister Maria Cecilia Baij (1694-1766) of St. Peter's Convent of Italy wrote about 280 years ago, based on Jesus' words, revelations, and inspiration, which is a very valuable and voluminous work with more than 920 pages without a pictorial. Even though it might be rude to send you the book with such small letters, which are very hard to distinguish for a presbyope. I think the German translation is the version with 680 summarized pages including 50 pictorials. Although it could be difficult to get permission, if I apply for permission to publish Korean and English versions with the German translation, not with the original Italian version. And I do not know the practical procedure and method of getting permission for publishing a translated version, so that I need active help from the publisher (publishing company). After that, I finally spent one night at the Royal Hotel in Bugok, Gyeongsangnam Province on May 12th, the Fourth Sunday of Easter and Good Shepherd Sunday, and on the next day, May 13th, at 10:00 am, I met you and we had a precious conversation.

Everything you gave to me, such as the various customized holy pictures, seasonal cards and writings by yourself, and your commemoration holy picture of ordination in the Vatican(November 23, 1958), are very valuable, historical, and rare materials. In particular, I was delighted, thankful, and happy as a layman, to be presented with a book about your experience during the 10 years of studying at the Urbano seminary in Rome, Italy(1952.8-1962.8), and pictures of having an audience with the present Pope Francisco in Rome Vatican. I can't tell you how much I appreciated what you've done. Now, I will keep these materials especially well and use them in future to write various articles.

One more thing I would like to say is, you've already met a man several times and knew him well, who is Thomas Hong-soon Han, a former professor of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies/graduate school, president of Catholic Lay Apostolate Council of Korea, and Korean ambassador to the Vatican. He is the one from whom I wanted to obtain counsel and any recommendations, in case I translate and publish this book, and also get recommendations from one prelate and one layperson as a representative. How joyous is it that you gave me the news? I trust in divine providence that Jesus will help to translate the book ‘VITA INTERNA DI GESU CRISTO’ through me, merely a humble mortal, by connecting you and ambassador Hong Soon Han. Thankfully, I became one of the consultants of Vincent elderly college which was founded by the Caritas convent in Cheongdamdong, Seoul. As the first consultant in Archdiocese of Seoul, Korea, I created a curriculum with Professor Hong Soon Han and we served together for consultation regarding inviting lecturers. Since then, for 38 years, Ambassador Han and I have had different careers, so I didn’t have chance to meet him. At the time, when Vincent elderly college was founded, cardinal Su-hwan Kim visited the college of the Caritas convent and blessed it. ‘The Day of Older Persons’ which I made in 1968 (23 years earlier than enactment of ‘International Day of Older Persons’ by the UN in 1991) as a university student, was enacted in Korea in 1997. 

This year it has been already 23 years, since I made it. I was 34 years old when I get signatures for enacting ‘Day of Older Persons’. When I showed you the original version of the signature (6.1.1981) of Professor Hong-soon Han, you accorded me praise for my good work. As the years rolled by, after 38 years, I turned 72 years old, and Professor Han turned 76 years old, and we were at that time 34 and 38 years old. Professor Han is now in his seventies, who, like me, was in his thirties. If I visit him, he’s likely to welcome me, saying, we have become old men with white hair since we met in our thirties. Even though I had only met you for the first time, you let my 72-year-old wife and me sit on the left and right sides of your seat. I was so honored to sit on the left and right arms of your chair, and to have a commemorative photograph with you. I realized that, thanks to you, my wife and I now experience and feel the love and mercy of Jesus Christ from 2000 years ago. I thought the place you are staying after retirement is a just normal presbytery of Nazareth Jesus in Changnyeong. But after I visited you, I got to know that the founder of the ‘the Convent of Jesus of Nazareth’ is you, a pioneer and 93-year-old bishop. I was deeply moved. Jesus summoned you as a prelate. And you filled various posts such as chairman of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea and Archbishop of Jeju, Masan, and Jeonju. Not only that, you achieved a great work, founding a convent, being so legendary, and I bow to you for this reason. I learned mercy and cosy warmth like parents as you hugged me and my wife. Despite your advanced age, more than 90 years old, you made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land with Wan-soo Oh Paulus, a representative of Marco’s pilgrimage known as ‘Soul Travel’, and celebrated mass and gave a sermon in foreign countries, including Japan.

On the domestic side, you celebrate mass and gave a sermon yourself on Sundays for nuns in the Convent of Jesus of Nazareth, and everyday morning at 7 o’clock. You introduced me the recent situation of the Convent of Jesus of Nazareth and showed me the inside of church in the convent. So, I could pray gratefully for the purpose I visited you, the health of our couple, and the genuine peace and liberal democracy of Korea which makes us, more than 70 years old, seriously worry.

You are prophet Elijah. Thanks to Paulus Wan-soo Oh from the Catholic Journalist Religious School, I visited you as presbytery of the Convent of Jesus of Nazareth. And then I realized you are Elijah, the prophet of this era, pioneer, and pathfinder, and we, Immanuel’s couple, are a petty affair and can’t even hold a candle to the widow of Sarpta. Jesus Christ let me know several times while praying that your prayer, memory, and guidance are essential in translating and publishing this book of M.C Baij nun, <VITA INTERNA DI GESU CRISTO> in Korean and English, which is more than 900 pages long. It is for all humankind on Earth who don’t know Italian and German. 

Jesus also said to me, “Go and meet the son of my sons, Michael Jung-Ill Park, who I chose, and tell him your unaffected will to translate the book <My inner life> which M.C Baij, the daughter I chose, wrote receiving my divine revelation and inspired me. And ask him for wisdom.” That’s why I dared to visit you in the Convent of Jesus of Nazareth. Actually the translation and publication of this book <VITA  INTERNA  DI  GESU CRISTO> will play a role of propagation, spreading Jesus not only to the Catholic believers, ascetics, and the clergy, but also to protestants, Orthodox Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and by extension, to all humankind on this Earth, i.e., nonbelievers, and atheists. In that sense, I earnestly wish competent publisher and translators to be selected and this ambitious plan and aspiration to translate and publish <VITA INTERNA DI GESU CRISTO> to be known also in the Vatican and St. Peter’s Covent. My wife and I, still inadequate people, wanted to spread the gospel more, so we are couple preachers of Catholic Jesus Society for the Street Propagation from May, 2008.

From about 60 years ago, when the medical practice was not developed yet, in a small countryside of Korea with no doctor, I had suffered from pneumonia, bronchiectasis, and suppurative inflammation in the middle ear since childhood which couldn’t be cured through operation. I still suffer ill effects because of countless chronic diseases, incurable diseases, the occurrence and recurrence of tuberculosis, colorectal cancer, and cardiovascular disorders, resulting in a dangerous embolization (Stent Placement). Before this life ends, before you pass away, I would carry out my mission, translating and publishing this book for Jesus. So please remember me with a heart of agreement and approval.  You are like Elijah of the LORD, the Prophet of the Old Testament. And among the priests, you became prelate quite early. I don’t think it’s an honor for you to be the chairman that we – a very insignificant couple – crown.  But we invite you because of just one thing, the piety to spread the gospel all over the world, we Korean people translating and publishing <VITA INTERNA DI GESU CRISTO> for the first time.  So please don’t reject and accept the invitation for chairman of English, Korean translation publishing. I will pray for this so much, and I’ll keep praying. Please remember my earnest and ceaseless wish during the mass.

If you, Pastorate, do me the honor of accepting this offer, being chairman in this translation publishing, I wouldn’t have any regret for the rest of my life. I close this long letter, praying for translating and publishing this book, and you being very robust in body and soul. Amen.

P.S. I will discuss a pilgrimage to one of the sites in Japan, the Gotō Island, which you recommended, with Paulus Wan-Soo Oh. So that you, a few acquaintances, and my wife and I can make a pilgrimage together.
